August 2021. MTU Aero Engines AG disclosed the sale of Vericor Power Systems LLC (VPS) at Alpharetta, Georgia (US) to CSL Capital Management of Houston TX last June. VPS was acquired by the Houston-based private equity company which according to CSL / Sentinel Energy’s Managing Director Charles Syl Leykum will finance further growth “in solutions for the military, marine, energy and power generation” sectors.
MTU established VPS in 1999 as a joint venture with Allied Signal (now Honeywell). In 2002 MTU took over the company, which today has about 50 employees. The divestment is motivated by a strategic focus on OEM aircraft engines. However German MTU is retaining the maintenance business for the General Electric LM series of aircraft gas turbines, which is operated by MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg. Reiner Winkler, CEO of MTU Aero Engines promised that the divestment will have no impact on his company’s revenue and earnings forecast for the 2021 fiscal year.
